Five years since the passing away of Fr. Paul Kwon

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary since the passing away of the late Father Paul Kwon, the Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea and Deacon Johan Park visited the parish of St. Dionysios in the city of Ulsan on May 8, 2022.

During the annual Memorial Service of Fr. Paul, the Metropolitan in his short speech said, among other things: “Today is a day of remembrance and gratitude. Following the apostolic exhortation, which teaches us to remember our spiritual fathers, who taught us the word of God, and also to see how they ended their lives and to follow the example of their faith (cf. Heb. 13: 7), we are gathering today to pray for the rest of the soul of Blessed Father Paul and to express our gratitude for his reverent ministry in our Orthodox Church in Korea. To most of you, Fr. Paul, was your father, because he gave birth to you by preaching the Gospel (cf. 1 Cor. 4:15) and led you to the Orthodox Church. That is why he does not stop praying and caring for all of you from the heavenly Altar. To the family of Fr. Paul, I convey the wishes of His Eminence Metropolitan of Pisidia Sotirios and all the clergy and laity of our Church to have health, longevity, and every blessing from our Risen Lord.”

After the Divine Liturgy and the Memorial Service followed the Agape Meal, during which the Metropolitan presented the recent illustrated edition of the life of the Holy Great Martyr and Bride of Christ St. Catherine, which was given as a gift to students of Sunday School, on the occasion of Children’s Day.
