Retreat for Students in the Parish of St. Dionysios in Ulsan

The relaxation of measures of COVID-19 allowed a two-day retreat program to take place on the weekend of November 14 and 15, 2020 in the parish of St. Dionysios of Aegina in the city of Ulsan.

The program was attended by a total of 17 students: 14 students of all grades of secondary education and 3 children of preschool age.

On Saturday morning, the program began with the morning Service, after which the first lesson of the general theme took place inside the church, titled: “Liberated by Christ”. Relevant discussions were held on the general issue on other occasions during the two days.

After the meal the participants had the opportunity to play group games in a wonderful nearby park and the volunteer ladies of the parish to learn how to prepare the “Prosforon”, a special type of bread offering used for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy.

After the students returned from the park, Deacon Johan Park explained to the students the symbolism of the Byzantine Church and with his help the students lit the candles for the Service of Vespers. Later dinner followed, which closed the program of the first day.

On Sunday morning, the Service of Orthros (Matins) and the Divine Liturgy were performed and the program ended with a student’s competition concerning the childhood of Saint Nektarios as well as a music program prepared by Fr. Christopher Moore and his Presvytera Fotini. The Metropolitan of Korea Ambrosios warmly thanked Fr. Christopher Moore, Deacon Johan, the volunteer ladies who worked on the preparation of the two-day meal, as well as all those who offered their help in various ways to complete the program.
